Business as usual...
It never ceases to surprise me that this was so 30 years ago and the following generation continues to make the same mess.
The list of absurdities keeps growing. Kudos to you for still being willing to visit this all.
My patience with this kind of system has long since run out: barely or not running trolleybuses, metros where you suddenly have to change because the tunnel was once built wrong and does not connect (Naples), non-existent timetables, trams not running for obscure reasons...
I find it wondrous that you visited all this.

A lot of transport fans get dissuaded this way in case of Italy, and don't want to go in the first place. Most likely this is why many systems in Italy are not covered that well. I am not excluding myself, but I still stay optimistic... or rather pragmatic.

My approach is to cover the Italian systems in 2 or even 3 separate visits. There is very low probability that trolleybuses in the Italian city X and the city Y would operate around the same time you visit. However, if you cover X and Y during different visits - it might work.

Examples. Trams in Naples didn't operate during my first visit, neither did city trolleybus routes, but the northern suburban CTP trolleybus system did. I covered trams during my second visit, and this time city trolleybuses did operate, while the CTP ceased to operate. Ancona trolleybuses and Route 11 in Rimini didn't operate this time, even though the Metromare trolleybus line did. But I covered Ancona two visits before, and I covered Route 11 in Rimini on the previous visit. Trolleybuses in Chieti didn't operate this time either. But Pescara will open one day, and I do get a chance to come back to the area in the future, so I will watch Chieti. In a way its somewhat of a hunt )

And if you don't get lucky - you can always enjoy the scenery, the food and wine, and local hospitality.

This is or will be my base for visiting Italy again.
My last planned visit in december 2022 - tramparade in Turin - fell through at the last minute due to an air traffic controllers strike...
It is not only like this in Italy: 2 weeks ago, I was planning a train trip to the south of France, but then it was the railways that went on strike...
The difference is that French transport companies have their affairs in order and people know what to expect. In Italy, this has not been the case for decades.
The challenge, to visit all the tram companies in the world once in your life seems to me to be as great as all the trolleybus companies in Italy...
